Message from our Elder
Over 35 years ago, a handful of Christians in Plantation, Florida, met together as the Westside Church of Christ. The mission of the church was simple, to proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord. The meaning to the church member was profound, to confess Jesus as Lord of my life.
In the course of time, as our congregation grew and re-located, the name Westside morphed into five different names. Today, the "South Florida Church of Christ" spans 110 miles from Port St. Lucie to Homestead. Our multi-ethnic, multi-language membership ranges throughout four counties.
I encourage you to visit our worship services. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. After 35 years, experience has taught us many things, and we have learned many lessons. But the mission of our church is still the same - Jesus is Lord. And the call for each member never changes - he is Lord of our life!
The Bible is Inspired and our Sole Authority
We believe that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. The Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative voice of God for our lives. Our beliefs and the direction of our church are based on the compass of the Word of God. We will always go back to the Bible in every decision we make.
Everyone should know God personally
We believe that through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ we can approach God personally with freedom and confidence. We believe that faith cannot be based on another's faith and, as a church, we must provide the atmosphere and teaching so people can know God and grow in that relationship.
Mankind is lost and must be born again
We believe that we, both individually and collectively, must continue to reach out and save the lost. Baptism is a necessary part of our message and membership qualifications.
Disciples of Jesus form God's church
We believe that the church is made up of disciples - those who have made Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior. A member of the South Florida Church of Christ is defined by lifestyle of discipleship and sacrifice.
God commands his disciples to be unified
We believe that members of the church must be unified. We must have the relationships in the church that will challenge and encourage one another to be like Jesus and to love one another deeply.
The church must reflect God's mercy
We believe that God is merciful. As recipients of that mercy, we believe that the church itself should also demonstrate that same mercy toward those around us. We believe that individually and collectively we must help the poor and needy in our community and around the world.
